A Cosmetology Program Built on Real-World Practice

Our mission is to teach you the skills, creativity, and positive attitude needed to enter the beauty industry and pursue your goals. Our classes start with focused demonstrations. Your instructors break down the cut, color, or technique step-by-step, before you move on to guided practice. As your control and timing improve, you can take those techniques to the clinic floor to practice on paying guests. All services are provided by students under the supervision of licensed professionals. Your instructors are close by for feedback and helping you fine-tune your skills.

Going from demonstrations to practice on real clients can help you build a full cosmetology toolkit of skills, including hair, makeup, skin care, and nail technology. We also cover business fundamentals such as consultations and retail basics, so you understand not just how to perform a service but also how to build a steady client rotation.

During your training, you can work with professional product lines both in the classroom and on the clinic floor. You can also learn from guest educators who share the techniques they use in local area salons. It’s a practical mix of brand exposure and real-world insight that can help build your confidence when moving from the classroom to the real-world salon environment.

Cosmetology Program FAQs

How long does it take to complete the Cosmetology Training program?

The Cosmetology program is 1500 clock hours, which students can complete in as little as 60 weeks. How long it takes you to complete the training will depend on your attendance and personal progress, but we offer family-friendly hours to help you keep momentum with your training. The admissions team can share current class times and the next available start date.

How do I pay for beauty school?

Financial Aid is available to those who qualify. Start with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), then meet with our team to review options such as Pell Grants, Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans, and payment plans. Some students also pursue outside scholarships or state resources. We’ll help you compare pathways so you can choose an approach that balances your budget and timeline.

What's included in the student kit?

Your kit is designed to mirror tools you’ll use in a salon and typically includes shears, clippers/trimmers, combs/brushes, sectioning tools, hot tools for finishing, mannequins, and core product supplies—plus required textbooks/workbooks. Exact contents can change. You’ll receive the current inventory list during enrollment. Using professional tools from day one helps your clinic practice feel like real shop work.

When are cosmetology classes offered?

Classes are scheduled on weekdays to support family- and work-friendly routines, and the school is closed on weekends and major holidays. Specific day hours are set by the campus and may be updated from time to time. Attendance and effort are key to your progress, so we’ll help you set a schedule you can follow consistently. Ask the Admissions Team about class times.

How soon will I start working with clients?

After you build core techniques in the classroom, you can transition to live-client services on the clinic floor under supervision. Many students begin seeing guests early in their training, so skills move from practice to real-world quickly. The exact timing depends on your progress and readiness. All services are provided by students under the supervision of licensed professionals.

When I was looking into cosmetology school, the only one that came to mind was CTC! I’ve known so many people who graduated from here who are well known and successful hairdressers! I definitley feel prepared for my career because CTC gave me a great foundation to grow from.

MACI K.

CTC is by FAR the best school in Acadiana. Amongst the highly experienced teachers, the respectful staff and the very well-trained students… it would be difficult to find anything in comparison. Highly recommend for both clinic work & career choice!
