An Instructor Program Built on Real-World Teaching

At Cosmetology Training Center, you learn to teach by teaching. Our program starts with educator-focused theory, about adult learning styles, lesson planning, classroom management, and more. Once you have the theory down, you will start assisting experienced instructors in practical settings. You could demonstrate techniques for students, give them feedback, or track their services on the clinic floor.

By moving from theory to practical instructor to leading students of your own, you build your teaching toolbox of skills. You’ll also build your communication skills and learn more about professional presentation, skills that matter in and out of the classroom.

Why Choose CTC for Instructor Training

Small Class Sizes

We’re locally owned and accredited, with small class sizes that put you in direct contact with mentors. We’ve been teaching aspiring beauty professionals since 1984, giving us the experience needed to help you learn real-world skills for the classroom. You will learn alongside active instructors in a busy student salon setting, so your practice happens with students in genuine learning situations. If you bring consistency and care for learners, we will give you opportunities to grow as an educator.

Instructor Program FAQs

How long is the Instructor program?

The program is 600 clock hours and combines instructor theory with hands-on classroom and clinic experience. Your completion timeline depends on your effort and attendance. The Admissions Team will share projected completion dates based on your timeline.

Who is this program for?

Instructor program is generally designed for licensed cosmetologists or estheticians who want to transition into teaching. If you’re unsure about eligibility or have questions about Louisiana requirements, speak with our Admissions team to review your background and next steps. Requirements are set by the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology.

What will I actually do during training?

You’ll learn how to plan lessons, deliver demonstrations, coach students during practical work, and evaluate their performance. You’ll also assist with classroom management and student records while observing how instructors keep classrooms and client services on track. The goal is to complete the program with skills you will use on day one in your own classroom.

Does this guarantee a teaching job or license?

No. The program is designed to help you build educator skills, but employment and licensure are not guaranteed. We work closely with salons and schools throughout Louisiana, though, and will try to make you aware of opportunities that may be suitable for your skillset and goals. Your outcome is determined by your prior credentials, experience, and effort in the program.

What hours do you offer for Instructor program?

Our Instructor program runs on a weekday schedule. The school operates from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with Cosmetology classes happening during the day and Esthetics courses running in the evening. We are closed on weekends and major holidays. Our hours are designed to allow trainee instructors to balance their training with their jobs and family responsibilities. You can work with the Admissions Team to set your specific training schedule.
